For the second year running a Freemen’s pupil has won a certificate of ‘high commendation’ in a national competition run by Oxford University’s French department.

Peter Cocks from Lower 5 was awarded a certificate for his quirky and original reworking of the ending of the film ‘Mic Macs’ by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. The competition was open to pupils up to year 11, so Peter did especially well.

Asked how he felt about his success, Peter said, ‘I’m proud I’ve achieved something, obviously, and I’m looking forward to continuing French and Spanish over the coming years.’

Last year Jamie Sims Upper 5, wrote his entry in the form of a screen play, and was also awarded with a certificate of commendation from the university.
