Congratulations to Pip, Dean (Upper 4) and Ben (Lower 4), who are award-winning climate superheroes of ‘Farmvention 2021’.
Their winning design, an innovative multi-level platform farm, assists in claiming back farming land from inhospitable areas such as salt marshes.
‘Farmvention’ is a National Farmers’ Union competition, that challenges students to find creative solutions to problems that climate change creates for British farming.
Dean, Pip and Ben attended a special prize winners’ ceremony at the Houses of Parliament, at which they pitched their design to many, including Jo Churchill, the current Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and NFU president Minette Batters. Highlights of the day included being interviewed for ‘Farmers’ Weekly’ magazine and catching a glimpse of Boris Johnson speaking during Question Time.
Thanks to the competition hosted by NFU Education, prize winners also received £1,000 of STEM and outdoor learning equipment, which our young scientists have already started using.
Well done to Dean, Pip and Ben on your all your hard work and fantastic achievement!
