Freemen's Violinist Joins National Youth Orchestra

Emily started playing the violin when she was just six years old and has already performed in both the National Children’s Orchestra and as part of the ensemble for the National Youth Music Theatre. This was Emily’s third attempt to get into NYO but her perseverance paid off; after two gruelling rounds of auditions, including designing a repertoire for a panel of experts, she secured one of only 40 violinist places.

Emily now looks forward to performing in NYO, she said of her achievement: “I’m excited and think playing in NYO will be demanding and perhaps require different skills of me as well - something which will hopefully improve my playing even further. I definitely think I’ve built my confidence throughout the auditions process and am really looking forward to playing at a high standard with other talented musicians. It looks like it’s going to be really fun and I’m excited to play in all the different venues around the UK, including the Royal Festival Hall in London.”
