Freemen’s is proud to announce we have reached the “Top of the Bench” Chemistry Competition National Finals.

Our team of pupils includes Beitris, Oliver, Keira and Sophia who together gained the highest score from the six regional heats.  These results made them eligible to represent us at the “Top of the Bench” National Final which will be held at The University of East London on Saturday 21 March 2020.

The Downland section of the Royal Society of Chemistry has organised this competition for  secondary schools. “Top of the Bench” is a national competition for KS3 and KS4 students designed to encourage and reward high achievement of school chemistry students.

The competition takes place in two parts during the academic year.  Regional heats, organised by Local Sections in Surrey, Sussex and within the M25, take place from October to January.  The winning team from each section progresses to the national final. Teams had to consist of two students from year 9, one from Year 10 and one from Year 11 with the practical tests and multiple-choice questions.

Well Done and Good Luck for the final.
