Our Food Technology Department were thrilled to hold their first Junior House Chef Competition on Monday 9 March.

Teams from Hale, Gresham and Whittington competed in groups of 2 pupils from U3 and L4 making an Afternoon Tea in a Great British Bake Off style competition.

The brief for the Afternoon Tea included making 4 dishes, of which at least 1 had to be savoury. Mr Robinson, Head of the Junior School, and Mr Felgate from the Senior Management Team were asked to judge the competition and base their decision on colour, texture, taste, shape, skill and how the pupils worked as a team.

Congratulations to the Whittington Team who were awarded 1st place for their Easter theme Tea. They made a Strawberry Swiss Roll, Parmesan Thins, Cheese and Tomato Tart and no bake Chocolate Tart. Mr Felgate gave a Paul Hollywood style hand shake to the team for their chocolate tart.

Hale House received 2nd place for their Fruit themed Tea with Lemon and Orange Cupcakes, Raspberry and Chocolate Tart, Salmon Bellini and a Mixed Berry Pavola.

Gresham House came 3rd with an Alice in Wonderland themed Tea. Their dishes included Sausage Rolls, Queen of Hearts Jam Tarts and a Victoria Sponge cake.

Well Done to all the pupils who took part and for their creative ideas. A special wooden spoon was awarded to each participant and house points awarded to the winning house.
