Epee Silver for Freemen's Fencers

The Freemen's U13 Epee team, Elina (U3), Jessica (L4) and Sophie (L4), fought very well to win the silver medal at the British School Team Fencing Championships, organised by British Fencing.

Team fencing events comprise nine fights per match with each team member fencing each member of the opposing team in a relay to a maximum of 45 points. After an initial round of three matches the Freemen's team were one of four teams to qualify for the medal round.

A comfortable victory over Guildford High School in the semi-final set up a final with Queens Gate School, a team with three fencers from the top seven of the 2018 national ranking. The Freemen's team fought hard all the way to stay in contention, unfortunately Queens Gate proved just too strong and were able to establish a lead and then defend it.

Congratulations to Elina, Jessica and Sophie on another great performance at this event to add to the gold medals they won in 2017 and 2018.
