L5 and L6 Technology, Engineering and Design Students visit BMW Car Plant

The Technology Engineering and Design department (TED) took a cohort of L5 and L6 pupils to the BMW MINI Car plant in Oxford, giving students a wonderful chance to see, at first hand, how a modern day MINI is built and assembled.

Every MINI is made to order and this includes the brand new all-electric version which has been added to the 3-door hatch range. This means that there are a trillion different options that you can choose from. To do all this BMW use a variety of robotics, automation and skilled technicians (and some amazing IT technology) to make their stylish cars. Pictured are our L5 pupils who were fascinated with the classic MINI that featured in the film the Italian Job. It is a truly iconic design.
