Congratulations to the team of pupils from Freemen's who participated in the Royal Society of Chemistry's Top of the Bench Competition this week and came first in this heat.

This national competition is for KS3 and KS4 students designed to encourage and reward high achievement in school chemistry students. There are six heats, of which this was the third, and so far we have received the highest score out of the three, which puts us in a good place to move to the next round.

The team of Beitris, Oliver, Keira and Sophia competed in a combination of practical tasks and a multiple choice theory test that were separated into Yr 11, Yr10 and Yr 9 categories. There were twelve schools competing last night:

  • City of London Freemen's School
  • Guildford High School for Girls
  • Hazelwick School
  • Howard of Effingham School
  • Reigate Grammar School
  • Rosebery School
  • Sackville School
  • St John's School
  • St Teresa's School
  • Tanbridge House School
  • Thames Christian College
  • The Priory School

Well done to the team and good luck for the next round.
