Freemen's students help to make a significant reduction in plastic waste from school.

Freemen's students across the school community are making huge efforts to reduce the plastic waste generated.

Upper 6 students are encouraging the school community to make use of their reusable water bottles and hot drinks cups in an attempt to persuade their peers to take action and stop using the single use plastic cups provided at lunchtime. As a result, Junior School pupils have all but stopped using single-use water cups by bringing their reusable water bottles into the dining room, prompted by some eye-catching, pupil-designed posters.

The Freemen’s Eco-School committee is striving to reduce plastic waste created by singe-use plastic cups used throughout the school, through a planned launch of collapsible cups and Freemen’s refillable water bottles. So far, the weekly plastic waste has been reduced from six to just two bags, which is an amazing step forward.
